Private Training & Behavior Modification

As an alternative to our group training classes, Positive Results Dog Training can provide:

  • In-home basic manners training for puppies and dogs of all ages
  • Behavior modification
  • Counseling for owners of aggressive dogs
  • Pre-adoption and pet selection assistance
  • Board and train (in cooperation with Playtime Doggie Daycare only)
  • Day training options and packages

Additionally, private training and behavior modification plans are available for dogs who are inappropriate for group classes due to fear or aggression issues.

Rates vary depending on the services provided. Please call or e-mail us to discuss your training needs - we can provide a personalized plan to fit your budget and your busy schedule. We can come to you and your dog - saving your valuable time and providing you with more personal attention than a group class would allow.

  • Private In-Home Basic Manners Training

If a busy lifestyle or variable work schedule prevents you from attending a group class session that meets weekly, private training sessions can be scheduled in your home around your schedule. Private sessions can be tailored to your needs.

  • Rowdy Rascals Program

This popular "course" is a remedial program for reactive dogs with mild to moderate dog-to-dog aggression issues. Private sessions are scheduled on an as-desired basis, and are held outdoors, weather permitting, on the grounds of Delaware Humane Association. Coursework may include basic manners training, as needed, but with an additional focus on increasing the handler's skills for better management of the reactive dog. Desensitization and counter-conditioning exercises are stressed to lower the problematic dog's arousal level in the presence of other dogs.

For safety reasons, all canine participants in this course must be pre-screened. Contact Nancy Fitzgerald, CPDT-KA, PMCT, at (302) 761-9125 to discuss your dog's fitness for this program.  Seriously dog-aggressive dogs who have caused significant injury or death to another canine are NOT appropriate for this program.

Behavior Modification Programs

Does your dog seem to lose his mind when someone rings the doorbell? Or does he try to bite you when you try to pick up his food bowl or try to move him off the couch? These common, but unacceptable, behavior issues are best dealt with through an in-home behavior plan in which the dog is carefully taught a new framework for responding to daily events.

Programs are individually constructed based on your dog's needs but require time and commitment on the part of the owner for successful implemenation.  Contrary to what you may see on television, there are very few quick fixes in changing most problem behaviors!  Owners are also counseled on appropriate management of the problem dog throughout the treatment program.

Not sure what you need? Contact us to discuss the details of your dog's issues...While an initial consultation may be necessary to truly assess the extent of your problem, we can often suggest various options depending on your needs and goals for your dog.
